Visa or residence permit extension

This part is for students who are already studying at our faculty (full degree study programs) and who intend to continue their studies in the next academic year.

Your student visa or your residence permit is usually valid for one year, therefore for the next academic year you need to extend it.

Check the official sources of information:

You can also download a practical guide with useful tips and hints, completed by the faculty staff, based on our experience. Consider it an additional source of information to guide you throughout the entire process, however it is not intended to replace the official legally binding texts (see the links above for official information). You may also find useful a sample letter of explanation (see point 4 of the guide).

Have yourself acquainted with the conditions of the extension latest during the second semester of the current academic year, before the examination period (under the condition that your current visa / residence permit ends during the upcoming September, which is the most usual scenario).

If, after reviewing the guide, you still have questions, or your situation is different from the usual and you are not sure how to proceed your extension, contact the Student Well-Being Advisor at biskupova@ufal.mff.cuni.cz
