After arrival legal obligations

After your arrival to the Czech Republic you need to register yourself with the Foreign Police. Students with long term visa must register within 3 days after arrival.

If you checked-in a Charles University dormitory, they do the registration for you and you do not have to do the registration individually.

Those in private accommodation need to register themselves!

EU citizens have 30 days to complete the registration with the Foreign Police.

Students who applied for the long term residence permit, even if they live in the dormitory and are registered by the dorm with the Foreign Police, must also make an appointment at the Ministry of Interior to provide their biometrics and receive the actual residence permit card. You must make the appointment as soon as possible after arrival and go to the Ministry within 30 days after your arrival.

Official information on all obligations of foreigners is to be found on the Information portal of the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic.

You can download a Visa after arrival obligations check list for easy navigation.

If after reviewing the given information you still have questions you can contact the Student Well-Being Advisor at biskupova@ufal.mff.cuni.cz
