LabTF

LabTF is an air-conditioned computer laboratory / classroom intended for students and employees of the MFF UK (and persons with an account at the student repository su.mff.cuni.cz). Students from other faculties may gain access to the laboratory only exceptionally, at the request of their teacher from the MFF.

LabTF is located in room T007 in the Troja IFF building at V Holešovičkách 2, 180 00 Prague 8, near lecture room T1.

Operation restriction [added on 22.01.2026, VŠ]
On Monday 26th of January electrical appliences will be revised.

Managment of small classrooms [added on 22.01.2026, VŠ]
Computers other technical equipment in smal classrooms T5-T10 are now under managment of mr. RNDr. Peter Žilavý, Ph.D.
In case of any mulfunction, please contact them and not the staff of LabTF.
Deleting files to free up disk space [added on 26.04.2025, VŠ]
We ask users of the LabTF computers to move all their important files to their own storage by the end of May.
We reserve the right to delete user accounts in order to maintain the operational capability of the computers in the lab.
Change of manager [added on 01.10.2024, VŠ]
Since October 1, 2024, Mr. Václav Šmahlík is the administrator of the LabTF.
3D printer [added on 28.3.2024, VP]
From 3. 4. 2024 it is possible to print on a 3D printer of type Průša MK4. For reservation use the reservation system here. The publication Basics of 3D printing with Josef Prusa can be downloaded here.

Since February 6, 2020, Mr. Matúš Komora has been the administrator of the LabTF.
Revival of machines on the platform [added 24. 10. 2019, ON]
Two functional machines with Windows 7 are again available on the landing in building T (at the vending machine).
Laptop Seats [added Oct 14, 2019, ON]
There were 5 places in the lab for working with a laptop. There is an external monitor (connected with HDMI and VGA cable), keyboard and mouse. Internet connection is possible via Eduroam.
Revival of Linux machines [added on October 14, 2019, ON]
We removed old Linux computers from the lab and replaced them with newer ones. We use the Linux distribution Debian 10.

Services for users

In the laboratory you can:

surf the Internet,
print (also in color),
print on 3D printer Prusa MK4 (reservations here)
scan,
bind documents by thermal binding,
burn CDs and DVDs (pure CDs and DVDs available for purchase at the service),
use 10 GB of user space on su.mff.cuni.cz,
use installed software (Corel, GIMP 2, gnuplot, Inkscape, Python, PrusaSlicer, G-code Viewer, ...),
print labels (template here),
PCs with Windows 11 and Debian Linux are available.
there are also 5 places for working with a laptop (external monitor with HDMI and VGA connection, keyboard and mouse),
in exceptional cases, it is also possible to use servers belonging to the LabTF administration e.g. for hosting websites.

What do we not provide?

Email addresses. Try Karlín lab, PLK, or Rotunda lab.
Remote Access. Upon agreement, remote access to servers managed by LabTF is possible.
Wired internet connection. However, Eduroam is available in the building via Wi-Fi.

Classrooms T5 - T10

The classrooms are under supervision of mr. RNDr. Peter Žilavý, Ph.D., in case of any malfunctions, please contact them.

Opening hours

The laboratory is open:

Every working day from 7:45 to 22:30.
On weekends, the laboratory is open from 10:00 until 20:00.
Summer holidays: 09:00 to 20:00.
It is not used during holidays other than summer holidays.
The opening hours can be adjusted for a short time due to the personnel possibilities of the laboratory. Always follow the current schedule.

We are not currently looking for supervision in the laboratory.

Operating Rules

The use of LabTF services is governed in particular by the Dean's Directive No. 4/2018 and the Operating Rules.

The user is obliged to refrain from all activities that could lead to a violation of any of the provisions of these rules, the rules for work on computer networks of the MFF UK, the ethics of the Internet and the instructions of the administrator.
