Fulbright Distinguished Chair: Prof. Ellis-Monaghan

The Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University is delighted to welcome Professor Joanna A. Ellis-Monaghan from Saint Michael's College, Colchester, Vermont, who will be at the faculty this year from 25 January to 8 August 2020 having received the Fulbright-Charles University Distinguished Chair Award from the Fulbright Scholar Program.

In the summer semester, Prof. Ellis-Monaghan will give a lecture course NDMI101 Graph Polynomials and their Applications for graduate students and advanced undergraduates, and NDMI102 Mathematical Theory of DNA Self-Assembly Design Strategies, consisting of a regular series of seminars for graduates, post-docs and faculty introducing us to a wealth of open problems emerging from the vibrant intersection of combinatorics and biology. The schedule for these two lecture series will be agreed at the traditional Úmluva at Malostranské náměstí 25 on the first Tuesday of semester, and can then be found by following the links to the courses above.

A number of international visitors have already been attracted to the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics during Prof. Ellis-Monaghan’s stay at Charles University, including Kerri Morgan (Deakin), Steve Noble (Birkbeck), and Iain Moffatt (Royal Holloway) in February.
