December 7, 2016

Memorandum of Understanding between the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University and the Ton Duc Thang University in Ho Chi Minh City will enable students and the academic workers to participate in an exchange program.

The beginning of November was the beginning of the cooperation with the Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU). The Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University Prof. Jan Kratochíl and the director of European Cooperation Center Dr. Phan Dao signed the Memorandum of Understanding that makes the Vietnamese students accessible to study at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics in combined programmes and enables the teachers of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics to teach at TDTU.

During the memorandum signing ceremony Prof. Jan Trlifaj, Deputy-Dean and Vice-Dean for Research and International Affairs, and Prof. Jaroslav Pokorný were also present. Prof. Pokorný as the supervisor for the faculty said: “The students of the Ton Duc Thang University surprised me with their determination and their attitude to school itself. They come to school early in the morning and also on Saturdays and Sundays, they communicate in English without any problems and the PhD. students are led to publish articles in high quality journals. I believe that both, our faculty and TDTU will profit from this cooperation.”

The very first result of the new cooperation was the presentation of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at the 2nd Czech Education Fair that was held November 24th to 25th by the TDTU.
