The popularity of the Czech Republic gradually rise, e.g. in the academic year 2010/2011 the Czech Republic was ranked the 18th. The positive trend was also proven by Hana Ripková, the director of the Fulbright Commission, the international organization for exchanges through scholarship programs between the Czech Republic and the USA. The most common length American students spend here is one semester.

The biggest number of American students, 39,851 in total, go to Great Britain, the leading country in the ranking. Great Britain is followed by Italy, Spain, France, Germany, and China. The most common study programmes of American students studying abroad are science and engineering (so called STEM fields – science, technology, engineering, mathematics).
