How to register for the state final examination?

This operational area is dealt with in SIS in the State final examinations module.

To register for a state final examination, you must:

  1. Meet the conditions for sitting the state final examination or part thereof,
  2. Enter the appropriate subject for the state final examination in the State final examinations module
  3. Register for an examination date

After entering the State final examinations module you will see the Exams tab, at the top of which is displayed an overview of state final examination subjects for which you have registered, an overview of parts for which you have not registered and for which the conditions for registration have been met, and parts for which the conditions have not yet been met. The lower part shows information about your registered thesis and an overview of subjects connected with the thesis.

In the Checks tab you can see an overview of compulsory and compulsory elective subjects and whether they have been fulfilled or not. At the very top is a function allowing you to check these before the state final examination. Checks on the fulfilment of the schedule are carried out automatically.

If the conditions for sitting part of the state final examination have been met, the registration of a subject is allowed in the Exams tab (users can choose between the summer and winter semesters; this is not, however, decisive for registration for the summer, autumn or winter dates for the state final examination):

Clicking on the registration button triggers a check to verify that the subject can actually be registered. The check usually takes place immediately. If it does not take place within an hour, please inform an SIS administrator.

If a subject is already registered, a link appears in the upper part of the Exams tab for registration for an exam date. This is the same procedure as for registration for any other examination, but with the difference that no fixed date and time is set in advance for the state final examination, but the fourteen-day window set aside in the timetable for the academic year.

When registering for the part of the state final examination for which subjects and topics are prescribed, the required number of optional subjects, as prescribed in the curriculum, must be selected. In case of doubt, please contact your course officer, who will help you identify the version of the curriculum you are studying.

Lastly, information on whether the student is registered for a date is displayed next to the registered subjects in the Exams tab. Selected subjects and topics can be displayed (multicoloured circles icon):

After the examination has been sat, the result is displayed as follows:

After the registration period for state final examinations has been closed, the chairs of boards put together committees, set an exact date and, if necessary, determine the order in which students will sit examinations. After the end of the deadline, an e-mail is sent from the SIS containing a link to the relevant invitation to sit a state final examination. This is available in the Invitations tab.

Persons whose studies have been interrupted cannot register for exam dates via this method. As it is not possible to sit a state final examination while one’s studies have been interrupted, they must arrange registration for an exam date, including a date for re-registration for study, with their course officer.
