School of Computer Science


Postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Applied Mathematics specializing in discrete and computational geometry

ID of the position: 202302-PD-KAM

We seek strong candidates for a postdoctoral position in the field of discrete and computational geometry, within the project Fundamental questions of discrete geometry. Informal inquiries are welcome and may be sent to the principal investigator Pavel Valtr <valtr@kam.mff.cuni.cz>.

The candidate should have an independent research proposal in the scope of the project and sketch it in the cover letter (expected length 2-3 pages).

The contract duration is one year with a possibility of an extension up to two years total. The start of the contract is negotiable, in particular it may be postponed until the beginning of year 2024. When filling the position, the gender balance in the team shall also be taken into account.

Qualification requirements: Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in a relevant area and a strong publication record in impact journals and/or high-quality selective conference proceedings in the relevant area.

Expected starting date is July 1, 2023, and it is negotiable.


Postdoctoral researcher at the Computer Science Institute of Charles University specializing in graph theory

ID of the position: 202302-PD-IUUK

We seek strong candidates for a postdoctoral position within the project Flows and cycles in graphs on surfaces, concerning nowhere-zero flows and their applications in graph coloring, cycles in embedded graphs in connection to the Cycle Double Cover conjecture, study of their algebraic properties via the surface Tutte polynomial, and other related topics. The candidate should have an ambitious but realistic independent research proposal in the scope of the project and sketch it in the cover letter (expected length 2-3 pages).

The contract duration is one year with a possibility of an extension up to two years total.
