The Czech Republic applied for membership in the DARIAH ERIC consortium

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports submitted official application on behalf of the Czech Republic for joining the European Research Infrastructure Consortium DARIAH ERIC (Digital Research Infrastructure for the Arts and Humanities). The large research infrastructure LINDAT/CLARIAH-CZ, hosted by the Charles University, will become the Czech national coordinator of research activities developed within the DARIAH ERIC.

The main goal of DARIAH ERIC is to enhance and support digital research and educational activities in the arts and humanities. The DARIAH ERIC provides digital research tools and shares research data on the basis of open access policy approach. The DARIAH ERIC increases their availability and usability and creates conditions for international comparative research. The DARIAH ERIC integrates 17 European countries. The statutory seat of DARIAH ERIC is based in Paris, France.

The Czech Republic will participate in the research activities of DARIAH ERIC through LINDAT/CLARIAH-CZ (Digital Research Infrastructure for Language Technologies, Arts and Humanities) – a large research infrastructure project, which is coordinated by the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics. LINDAT/CLARIAH-CZ facilitates the cooperation of 11 Czech research institutions active in the arts and humanities, such as linguistics, history, historical bibliography, culture, science of culture, art history, philosophy, film culture, visual art, musicology, history of music, ethnology, folklore, archaeology and other interdisciplinary fields. In addition, the LINDAT/CLARIAH-CZ serves as a common distributed national node of the Czech Republic in the European Research Infrastructure Consortium CLARIN ERIC (Common Language Resources and Technology Infrastructure).
