The Joseph Fourier Prize is awarded to researchers under the age of 33 for innovative research in computer science, with a focus on computationally intensive algorithms, modelling, and the processing of large volumes of data. This year, the jury assessed dozens of submitted projects, evaluating them primarily on the basis of originality, practical impact, and potential for further development. Zdeněk Kasner was awarded second place, receiving a financial scholarship and the opportunity to undertake a research placement in a laboratory in France.

The young researcher focuses on advanced artificial intelligence technologies. His work centres on controlled text generation from structured data such as tables, graphs, or measurement records, and on the automatic evaluation of the quality of the generated text. In addition to his research activities, he is also actively involved in teaching students.

The French Embassy’s Scientific Awards ceremony in the Czech Republic took place on 26 June in Prague. The event was chaired by the French Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Stéphane Crouzat, together with the initiator of the awards and Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, Jean-Marie Lehn.
