The aim of this project is to investigate specific aspects of exact solutions to Einstein’s equations. In particular, the work will focus on geometrical and physical interpretation of large families of exact spacetimes which represent black holes (of algebraic type D, II and I), exact gravitational waves (of type N, III and II), including the cosmological constant. Such spacetimes may be solutions in vacuum, with pure radiation, gyratonic matter, electromagnetic field, and/or other types of matter. Extension of the Einstein general relativity to higher dimensions and/or higher-derivative gravity theories is also possible.

We require that the candidate has a deep knowledge of the main classes of exact spacetimes, namely various background (cosmological) spaces of constant curvature, rotating, charged and accelerating black holes of the Plebański-Demiański family, general axisymmetric stationary spacetimes, and Kundt and Robinson-Trautman solutions. It is supposed that the candidate has already published papers on these topics.
