Respirium

A respirium is a space in a public building that is intended for relaxation.

In the Karlin building, the respirium is located in the basement (i.e. on the first underground floor). The easiest way to get to the respirium is to go past the drink machines on the left after entering the building, go through the glass doors, go down the stairs, then left and look for the door marked "Respirium" on the right side of the corridor. The respirium is open on weekdays between 8:00 and 20:00, but there may be a planned event, see the sign by the door or the website for reservations:

Operating rules of the Respirium

The Respirium is a space in the basement of the Karlín building, intended exclusively for students and staff of the MFF (Faculty of Mathematics and Physics), primarily for activities related to teaching.

The Respirium may also be used for other events organised by members of the academic community of the Mathematics Section of the MFF UK. The registration and booking of such events (hereinafter referred to as "planned events") is carried out by H. Orosová (Department of Numerical Mathematics) at: orosova@karlin.mff.cuni.cz. Planned events are subject to the approval of the Vice-Dean for Mathematics.

The programme of planned dvents is posted at the entrance to Respirium and on the website at: http://www.karlin.mff.cuni.cz. A data projector and screen are available for planned events. The keys to the cabinet in which the control of the data projector is locked will be handed over to the organiser of the planned event by H. Orosová by agreement and will be taken back from him after the event.

The Respirium is freely accessible on weekdays between 8:00 and 20:00, but must be vacated at least 15 minutes before the start of each planned event. The Respirium is not intended for long-term storage of personal belongings. Visitors to the Respirium are asked to maintain order and reasonable quiet in the Respirium and the adjacent courtyard area.

Wireless internet (eduroam) is available in the Respirium. There is also a kettle, microwave oven, basic set of dishes in the cupboard by the courtyard door for the use of Respiria users. Replacement whiteboard markers can be picked up at the Karlin building reception desk.

If any of these items are missing or damaged, please contact Mrs. Orosova or the Vice-Dean for Mathematics. The facility also includes shelves of books and magazines. Visitors to Respirium are asked not to remove any of the above items from the Respirium premises and to return them to their place.
