From March 16 to 24, 2026, the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University, hosted the representatives of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University (ChNU) in Ukraine led by its Rector Ruslan Biloskurskyi. The visit was a part of the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility (ICM) project, coordinated by Prof. Roman Grill from the Institute of Physics of CUNI.

The Ukrainian side was further represented by Vice Rector for Research Yuriy Khalavka, Director of the Institute of Biology, Chemistry and Bioresources Ruslan Bespalko, Director of the Institute of Physical, Technical and Computer Sciences Petro Shpatar, and partially also the Head of the International Relations Office Sergiy Lukanyuk.

The core of the programme took place at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, where the guests became more closely acquainted with the faculty itself and some of its institutes (in particular the Institute of Physics of Charles University, the Department of Chemical Physics and Optics, and the Department of Macromolecular Physics). They also visited a number of laboratories in Karlov and Troja. At Malá Strana Campus, they were introduced, among other things, to the MALACH Centre.

The programme extended beyond the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics itself. Representatives of Chernivtsi National University met, for example, with the Vice Rector for International Affairs, the Vice Rector for Research and Creative Activities, and the Deans of the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Science. A shared interest in further strengthening cooperation in the fields of internationalisation, education, and research has been expressed.

The stay concluded with an official meeting with Charles University Dean Mirko Rokyta, Vice Dean for Research and International Affairs Zdeněk Doležal, and other academic staff. Aside a summary of the Credit Mobility project, future direction of cooperation between both universities had been discussed as well.
