Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University
announces opening of the following scientific post-doc positions
at the School of Physics with submission deadline January 4, 2019

  1. A researcher in the field of condensed matter physics at the Department of Low Temperature Physics. A successful candidate is assumed to have a strong background in solid state physics and experience in structural characterizations of complex materials using X-ray diffraction and nuclear magnetic resonance as well as comparison of experimental data with ab-initio calculations based on density functional theory.

    ID: 201901-PD-KFNT.

  2. A researcher in the field of the surface/interface, plasma, or space physics at the Department of Surface and Plasma Science. Research should focus on one of the following fields: (a) development of catalysts for proton exchange fuel cells, (b) 2D self-assembled molecular layers (STM, theoretical calculations), (c) surface analysis, (d) experimental study of astrophysically relevant ion–molecule reactions, (e) Sun–Earth relations including magnetospheric processes, wave propagation, solar wind properties, and experimental studies of dust interaction with the plasma.

    ID: 201901-PD-KFPP.

  3. A researcher in the field of research and development of nanoparticles for applications in nano- and bio-photonics and for building-up of advanced methods of optical spectroscopy and micro-spectroscopy (including spectroscopy of single nanoparticles) at the Department of Chemical Physics and Optics.

    ID: 201901-PD-KCHFO.

The positions are funded by the Czech Operational Programme Research, Development and Education No. CZ.02.2.69/0.0/0.0/16_027/0008495. The funding is available for one year, starting preferably from March 1, 2019 but not later than April 1, 2019.

Qualification requirements: Ph.D. in physics or related fields, obtained not earlier than 7 years before the application deadline (this may be extended by maternity or parental leave, long-term illness, taking care of a  family member for more than 90 days, and military service). Work experience in the duration of 2 years in the last 3 outside of the Czech Republic at a  half-time (or more) research position, or a Ph.D. study abroad for this period of time. An appropriate publishing activity, i.e., in the past 3 years, at least 2 publication outputs of the type "article", "book", "book chapter", "letter" or "review", should be registered in Thomson Reuters Web of Science or Scopus

Electronic applications, i.e. a scan of the signed cover letter accompanied by

  • curriculum vitae,
  • list of publications,
  • research statement,
  • a copy of PhD diploma,

should be sent to the email address konkurzy@dekanat.mff.cuni.cz by January 4, 2019. The candidate should also arrange for two letters of recommendation to be emailed to the same address.

The code of the position applied for must be used in the subject of all electronic communication.
