School of Physics


Assistant professor at the Institute of Theoretical Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics

Qualification requirements: Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in theoretical physics or theoretical atomic and molecular physics. The candidate is expected to integrate into themes of research at the Department, including the development of the theoretical methods for the description of the electronic structure and the dynamics of atoms, molecules, their collisions and interaction with radiation; the development of numerical methods and computational tools for the modelling of collisions, dissociation, ionization and interactions of atoms, molecules and their ions. A track record of relevant research stays outside the country of origin is required. The applicant should present a list of relevant publications in impacted journals. Positive attitude towards pedagogical work, ability to integrate research and teaching activities, as well as supervision of student theses and projects is expected. We require teaching ability in both Czech and English languages and willingness to supervise student theses.

Expected starting date: March 1, 2023, which is negotiable

Job description: Scientific and pedagogical work in the field of mathematics.

Qualification requirements: Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in a relevant area, international recognition and excellent track record in mathematics (at, or just below, the level of successful ERC applicants), long-term foreign experience (at least 3 years abroad during or after PhD), at least 3 years of postdoctoral experience elsewhere than the PhD granting university, exceptions are possible in cases of parental leave or long-term sickness, Positive attitude towards pedagogical work, ability to integrate scientific activities, teaching and supervision of student theses, including training of doctoral students. Basic communication in Czech language after four years period is expected.
