Matouškovská přednáška prof. Zambonelliho

Franco Zambonelli je profesorem informatiky na Univerzitě v Modeně a Reggio Emilia. Doktorát z informatiky a počítačového inženýrství získal na Univerzitě v Boloni v roce 1997. Jeho výzkumné zájmy zahrnují distribuovanou umělou inteligenci a multiagentní systémy, samoadaptivní a samoorganizující se systémy a jejich využití ve zdravotnictví a chytrých městech.
V těchto oblastech publikoval více než 130 článků v recenzovaných vědeckých časopisech a vystoupil jako zvaný řečník na řadě konferencí a workshopů. Je členem redakčních rad časopisů Springer-Nature Computer Science, IEEE Technology and Society Magazine, BCS Computer Journal a International Journal of Pervasive Computing and Communications.
Působil jako vědecký vedoucí projektu CASCADAS a jako koordinátor projektů SAPERE a Fluidware. Je držitelem titulu ACM Distinguished Scientist, členem Academia Europaea, nositelem ocenění IEEE Fellow a laureátem ceny IFAAMAS Influential Paper Award za rok 2018.

Abstrakt přednášky:

Recent advances in AI are driving an unprecedented and fast-paced development of myriads of powerful agent tools and applications, mostly based on generative AI technologies and increasingly involving multiple collaborative agents. However, the lack of solid conceptual abstractions and engineering foundations, as well as clear principles driving their design, may hamper the building of complex AI agent societies, eventually limiting their trustworthiness, applicability, and evolution.
In this context, we argue that such a set of abstractions should constitute the narrow neck of an indispensable “cognitive hourglass”: a level of abstraction meant to be useful for humans to understand, design and control agents and complex agent societies, regardless of the specific AI technologies adopted at the implementation level and of the specific application context.
In the talk, I will start from the key concepts associated with individual and social cognitive activities, present the idea of the cognitive hourglass, motivate its need, sketch its envisioned architecture, and eventually identify the research challenges for its realization.

Matouškovská přednáška se koná od roku 2024 na památku jednoho z nejvýznamnějších českých informatiků a matematiků přelomu 20. a 21. století. Prof. RNDr. Jiří Matoušek, DrSc. (1963–2015) byl profesorem MFF UK a ETH v Curychu. Napsal řadu oceňovaných monografií a učebnic zejména v oblasti teoretické informatiky.
