University Study at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics

Academic year 2012/2013

General rules for Bachelor's and extending Master's Programmes

At the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics it is possible to study either in a Bachelor's or the Master's Program. These programs are then divided into Branches and within the bounds of one branch there can be several Study Plans. Particular stages of study are called grades.

The standard period of the Bachelor Study Program is 3 years and the maximum period of study is 6 years. A state examination must be passed at the end of the period in order to earn a Bachelor degree (Bc.).

The standard period of the continuing Master Study Program is 2 years and the maximum period of study is 5 years. A state examination must be passed at the end of the period in order to earn a Master degree (Mgr.).

During his/her studies the student must choose those subjects that satisfy the requirements of his/her Study Plan, while earning the necessary number of credits for each academic year. The number of credits is strictly controlled at the academic year's end.

Students must complete the "normal" number of credits as laid out in the Study Plan (60 per year) in order to be enrolled for the following year. If a student completes a minimum amount of credits for a single year (see table below), he/she can be enrolled for the following year. However, this exception cannot be permitted more than once.

All requirements must be fulfilled before applying for the State Final Examination.

1. Minimum number of credits necessary for enrollment to the further stage of study in Bachelor Study Programs are:
